Create! A Sustainable Future

Sustainability

In a world where nature and the climate are under immense pressure, Create! aims to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
A better environment starts with yourself — the well-known Dutch “Postbus 51” slogan from the 1990s. But the reality is that a better environment begins above all with businesses. In a world where nature and the climate are under immense pressure, Create! aims to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. To achieve these ambitious goals, we have also set out ambitious plans.

“We strive to operate fully climate-neutral by 2030 and focus on 100% sustainable (re)use.”

Energy

The energy transition is moving forward rapidly in the Netherlands and we’re right there with it. Our modern workshop is topped with 300 solar panels, working hand-in-hand with advanced heat pumps to eliminate the need for gas entirely. Thanks to our smart and efficient energy use, we operate fully energy-neutral. It’s a milestone we’re proud of, and a meaningful step towards a cleaner, greener future.

“The roof of our modern workshop has no fewer than 300 solar panels, which, together with the heat pumps, ensure a completely gas-free connection.”

Transport

Even beyond our workshop, we strive to minimise our ecological footprint. To limit travel as much as possible, we work with local professionals wherever we can. Thanks to our universal work protocol, we can quickly and easily train local people to build our constructions, meaning we don’t have to fly large teams across the world. When travel is necessary, we do so as electrically as possible. We work exclusively with electric tools.

Material Use

We know that many of the set pieces and structures we create are temporary, which makes responsible material use all the more important. Our goal is simple: minimise waste, maximise reuse. That means choosing FSC-certified materials, designing with reusability in mind, and optimising every sheet through precise cutting plans. Any usable offcuts and sawdust from our workshop are repurposed for local initiatives: from sustainable farming to crafting beer crates, ensuring that nearly nothing goes to waste.

We’re also proud members of Wood Loop, a recycling initiative by Koninklijke CBM, Baars & Bloemhoff, and Unilin. Through this programme, any non-reusable wood waste from our production process is collected, recycled, and given a second life. By separating materials at the source, we eliminate the need for incineration, closing the loop on waste and significantly reducing our CO² footprint.

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Create!, sustainability isn’t just about the environment, it’s about people too. We take pride in operating not only with ecological responsibility, but with a strong social commitment. That’s why we regularly welcome primary and secondary school students for workshops and guided tours, inspiring the next generation to think about sustainability and how it shapes the way we work. We share our leftover wood with schools and the local KBO for educational use, and we donate materials to the annual children’s holiday week, encouraging creativity in a fun, eco-friendly way.

Beyond that, we support our community by providing financial aid to local sports clubs and charities. It’s our way of investing in a brighter, more sustainable future — and of inspiring others to do the same.
